Avionics test software added to data bus cards
|

DDC has announced Datasims avionics data bus test and analysis software support for its line of Acextreme data bus cards. The BU-67X series cards provide MIL1553 functionality, including BC, or multi-RT and concurrent monitor per channel, along with common API for test and embedded applications.
With the additional software support, it becomes an all-in-one test and analysis product.

Q Seven module expands memory options
|
|
MSC Vertriebs has expanded its portfolio of compact embedded Q Seven modules in the 70 by 70mm format based on the Intel Atom processor. For memory-demanding applications the Q7-US15W-FD module is now not only available with 512Mbyte or 1Gbyte memory, but also with an onboard 2Gbyte DDR2-533 sdram. The module with integrated 4Gbyte flash is to be complemented by a 2Gbyte flash disk version.

Devices provide five timing functions
|

Linear Technology has announced the Timerblox family of simple, small, accurate and low power devices for five commonly used timing functions: voltage-controlled oscillator, low frequency oscillator, pulse width modulated oscillator, monostable pulse generator (one-shot) and delay.
These parts provide a single common platform and allow the use of precise building blocks for each function.

SBC suits graphics intensive jobs

IBase has announced the IB891, an 8.9cm single board computer based on a two-chip Intel Atom single-core N450 or dual-core D510 processor. The processors come integrated with a memory controller and an IGP graphics core, suitable for graphics intensive and multimedia applications, notably digital signage, PoS, kiosk, automation, fanless and low-noise embedded applications.

Mini-ITX motherboard supports multicore processors

BVM's LV-67C mini-ITX motherboard is based on the Intel Q57 and supports versions of the Intel i7, i5 and i3 64bit processors in the LGA 1156 socket. The 32nm versions of the i5 and i3 have HD graphics capability with VGA and DVI output interface, the 45nm i7 and i5 versions do not.
Up to 8Gbyte of 1333 DDR3 memory is supported. Intel’s turbo boost and hyper-threading technologies increase performance making the unit suitable for high-performance systems in industrial control, automation, retail, gaming, print imaging and digital signage applications.

FPGA processor boards to befit software-defined radio
|

GE Intelligent Platforms is about to launch a range of digital receiver, digital transceiver and FPGA processor products based on the Virtex-6 FPGA family from Xilinx. The plan is to follow these with products based on Xilinx’s 7 series devices including the Virtex-7 family. These platforms will be aimed at software-defined radio, signals intelligence, tactical communications and radar applications.
The company has also announced an early adopter programme to allow companies and organisations to obtain access to and information about (under non-disclosure agreement) the plans for these products.

Hardware programmer for FPGAs
|

Actel has announced Flashpro 4, a hardware programmer supporting the company's flash FPGAs: the Igloo and Proasic 3 series (including RT Proasic 3), Smart Fusion and Fusion families. It also supports FPGA embedded software programming and debug managed by the company's Soft Console IDE for embedded processors.

Digital remote control in regulated supply
|
|
The CPX400DP is the latest in the CPX series of Powerflex regulated power supplies from Thurlby Thandar Instruments, and is the first to incorporate digital remote control interfaces.
Based around the power electronics of the CPX400A unit, the supply incorporates manual control features in addition to the digital interfaces. These include settings lock, isolated voltage tracking and synchronous switching of the two outputs.
To increase flexibility for remote control applications, RS232, USB, GPIB and lan (Ethernet) interfaces are provided as standard.

Sensor module checks temperature
|

Dexter Research Center has introduced a module for non-contact temperature measurement with integrated asic.
The MD-0003 module, which comes in a TO-5 housing, uses the SMBus with two wires. This setup allows up to 100 sensors to be linked to each other.

Com Express module targets large OEMs
|
|
The Com E8X80 module has been added to the Com Express range from Via Technologies. It uses the company’s 64bit Nano E series processor.
The module is targeted at IPC and larger OEM users in a range of embedded segments including gaming, healthcare and industrial automation. A mutli-IO baseboard is available for evaluation purposes.
There is a choice of 1.3+GHz or 800MHz processors, combining native 64bit and virtualisation support with a superscalar architecture in a low power thermal envelope.
